A person can be plumber, friend, Billy (Billy is a proper noun).
A place can be a park, a bathroom, South Korea (South Korea is a proper noun).
A thing can be scissors, ipad, and plastic.

TYPES OF NOUNS
The classes, or types, to which nouns belong are distinguished as follows:
1. A proper noun is the name given to a word that falls under the category of names, places, holidays, days of the week, and months of the year; as, Jim, France, Christmas, Thursday, May.
- Proper nouns should always be capitalized.
2. A common noun is the name given to an object to show the class to which it belongs; as, hat, child.
3. A collective noun is a name which in the singular shows a collection. It is usually plural in idea but singular in use; as, pile, association.
4.An abstract noun is the name showing the quality of an object being not of realistic, touchable, or seeable. Mostly abstract nouns are nouns of the mind; as, hunger, happiness, love.
5. A concrete noun is the opposite of an abstract noun showing the quality of an object is of realistic, touchable, or seeable; house, book, finger
6. A count noun, or countable noun, is the name of a noun that shows a word the word can be counted in numbers; as dog-dogs, man-men, building-buildings.
7. A non-count noun, or uncountable noun, is the name of a noun that shows a word cannot be counted in numbers because the amount is too big or it is a mass; as water, space, sand
8. A gerund, or verbal noun, is the name of an action. As its name suggests, it is made from a verb; as, Sweeping is good exercise. Drinking smoothies is delectable. Smiling makes friends.
